Mobo Mechanical Horse
Harry Sebel was the business wise and creative son of David Sebel who was a successful manufacturing entrepreneur in London. After World War II Harry helped retool and refit productions to include toy making. He dreamed up the idea of a rocking horse that moved along with the rider instead of the typical stationary horse. The first mock up of the toy was done using a full size mechanical horse with bicycle gears. The story goes that they were unable to acquire a full horse hide to cover the contraption, so a zebra hide was used instead. The end result was the Mobo Bronco. The example pictured below is coming up for auction on January 9th, 2012 with Basinger Auction Services.
